I left school at just 15 and began my working life as an apprentice engineer at an engineering firm. This hands‑on role gave me strong foundations in mechanical design, problem solving, and practical engineering skills that would later define my career in food processing machinery.
I later moved into factory shift work where the higher wages were appealing at a young age. However, the unsociable hours soon began to interfere with my social life, prompting me to look for a role that better suited both my lifestyle and my growing ambition.
That opportunity came when I spotted an advert for a food machinery engineer at a local food machinery company. I was delighted to be hired, and this role proved to be a turning point. My engineering skills truly came into their own as I learned every aspect of industrial food machinery, from mechanical components to system performance and reliability. Many evenings and weekends were spent honing my craft and deepening my technical expertise.
When the business partners later split up, I continued working with the sales representative as his dedicated engineer. Over the years, we built a highly successful working relationship that developed into a close friendship—one that still remains today. Together, we supplied food production equipment to a wide range of customers before eventually going our separate ways.
With strong drive, ambition, and an in‑depth understanding of machinery, I began selling small food processing machines locally. Gradually, my reputation grew. I believe my engineering background made a real difference: I could explain exactly how a machine works, make modifications, and tailor solutions to suit each customer’s specific product. This ability to deliver custom food machinery solutions has always set me apart.
Today, I run a successful business supplying food processing equipment worldwide, as well as providing expert advice and food machinery consultancy services. My extensive hands‑on experience and engineering knowledge also enabled me to build my own brand of machinery—Bulldog.
Under the Bulldog name, we design and manufacture spiral freezers, industrial fryers, and food mixers, all built precisely to our customers’ requirements. Whether it’s a custom spiral freezer, a bespoke frying line, or a tailored mixing solution, every machine is engineered for performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Behind the business is an incredible team of skilled and dedicated people who help turn ideas into reality. Their expertise, commitment, and attention to detail are fundamental to our success and allow us to continue delivering high‑quality food machinery manufacturing solutions to customers around the world.
